Moorfields Eye Hospital Center, Abu Dhabi, is a world leading expert in eye care. Established in partnership with UK’s Moorfields Eye Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi brings 200 years of specialist eye care experience to the United Arab Emirates. Founded in London in 1804, Moorfields is considered the oldest and one of the largest centers for ophthalmic treatment, teaching and research in the world.

Reporting to the Lead, Care Coordination, the Surgical Coordinator manages the operating room booking and scheduling system in line with established guidelines. The role ensures timely follow‑up on all unscheduled surgeries and collaborates with clinical teams to support smooth surgical throughput. The Coordinator also oversees elective and emergency bookings in compliance with DOH/DHA and MH regulations, standards, and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Optimizes OR utilization by managing elective and emergency surgery schedules.
  • Prepares, updates, and distributes daily surgical schedules.
  • Coordinates all booking activities and communicates case details to clinical teams.
  • Maintains accurate scheduling data and supports reporting/KPIs.
  • Manages OR logistics including specimens, blood products, documents, and preference cards.
  • Ensures correct procedure coding and assists with financial clearance.
  • Updates all case changes and maintains provider/physician schedules.
  • Acts as a resource for clinical staff and reviews pre‑admission testing, escalating abnormalities.

Qualifications

  • Clinical background or diploma in a related field.
  • Preferably 3 years of Operating Theatre experience or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of OT systems, protocols, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
