Outpatient Care involves delivering professional nursing services to patients in outpatient settings. This includes recording patient histories, performing diagnostic tests, administering medications, and collaborating with medical teams to develop care plans. Registered nurses in the outpatient department assist physicians during exams and procedures, operate medical equipment, and report to the OPD Manager. They also support dental professionals during clinical procedures, maintain hygiene standards, adhere to infection control protocols, and ensure the clinic is well-organized.
• Deliver a high standard of evidence-based care to patients at KCH.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the needs of patients on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned rooms, dental chairs, and equipment.
• Sterilize all medical and dental instruments, ensuring strict compliance with cross-infection control protocols.
• Provide basic life support and assist in medical emergencies.
• Assist dentists during clinical procedures, ensuring proper positioning, instrument handling, and protection of soft tissues.
• Take dental radiographs and collect patient files as required.
• Provide general patient care, including oral health education as prescribed by the dentist.
• Apply for medical insurance approvals and communicate with patients and the team regarding insurance status.
• Ensure all patients and families receive clear and sensitive communication regarding their care and treatment updates.
• Restock, receive, and account for all dental supplies in the clinic.
• Record accurate charting of dental information and maintain efficient filing systems, including current, completed, and referral records.
• Maintain good quality, legible, and contemporaneous patient health records in line with KCH policies.
• Guarantee confidentiality and respect for patient privacy, dignity, and cultural beliefs.
• Participate in nursing audits and quality improvement activities as required.
• Report adverse incidents as per KCH policy and participate in the investigation process.
• Identify risks in daily activities, report them appropriately, and record them in quality and safety meetings.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory training sessions to maintain current knowledge and skills.
• Work flexibly across the organization as required to ensure safe staffing levels.
• Be willing to assume link nurse responsibilities (e.g., infection control, nurse audits) and ensure the team remains updated on relevant areas.
