Job Description
Job Summary
The Emergency Medicine Specialist is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. The role requires delivering high-quality, evidence-based acute care within a structured, high-acuity, tertiary hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Assess and manage patients presenting with acute medical and surgical emergencies
- Perform triage, resuscitation, and stabilization of critically ill patients
- Initiate and interpret diagnostic investigations
- Provide timely and evidence-based treatment plans
- Perform emergency procedures within scope of practice
- Coordinate with other specialties for referrals and admissions
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in EMR
Operational Responsibilities
- Participate in shift-based coverage including nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Support patient flow and throughput within the Emergency Department
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Quality & Safety
- Adhere to clinical governance, patient safety, and infection control standards
- Participate in audits, morbidity & mortality reviews, and quality initiatives
Education & Development
- Maintain continuous professional development (CPD)
- Participate in teaching and mentoring junior staff when required
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
- Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (mandatory)
- Minimum 3 years post-board experience in Emergency Medicine
- Experience must be from:
- Governmental, Semi-governmental, or Teaching hospitals
- Experience in high-volume, structured Emergency Departments is required
Licensure
- Eligible for licensure with Qatar’s Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP)
