Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

The General Practitioner – Obstetrics & Gynaecology will provide high-quality, patient-centered care across a broad spectrum of women’s health and maternity services. The role focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of routine obstetric and gynaecological cases, while ensuring timely escalation to specialist or consultant level for complex conditions. This position requires strong clinical competence, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to delivering safe and evidence-based care.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care for obstetric and gynaecological patients within the defined scope of practice.
• Conduct initial assessments, physical examinations, and develop management plans for routine cases.
• Manage antenatal and postnatal care, including monitoring maternal and fetal well-being.
• Diagnose and treat common gynaecological conditions, ensuring appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.
• Assist in labor and delivery under supervision, and support emergency obstetric cases when required.
• Identify complications and escalate cases promptly to Specialists/Consultants.
• Perform minor procedures and clinical interventions as per privilege scope and hospital guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Consultants, midwives, nurses, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuous clinical education activities.
  

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Valid Department of Health (DOH) license as General Practitioner (or eligibility to obtain).
• Minimum of 2-4 years of clinical experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology setting.
• Demonstrated experience in managing routine obstetric and gynaecological cases.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS/PALS is an advantage.
• Strong clinical judgment with the ability to recognize and escalate high-risk cases.
• Effective communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
