Assists in the implementation and monitoring of the effectiveness of the risk management program within American Hospital Dubai. Supports organizational learning and ensures American Hospital Dubai is meeting its regulatory and accreditation obligations.
Responsibilities
Supports and monitors the risk management program taking a proactive approach to help minimize and mitigate clinical risk.
Supports internal risk identification mechanisms including, but not limited to incident reports, medical record reviews, clinical audits, patient complaints, claims and risk assessments.
Investigates patient safety issues and incidents within the organization and report patient safety data in actionable formats
Demonstrates a strong overview of the progress of incident and complaint investigations and ensures the Director of Risk Management is informed of any issues or risks.
Supports the process for reporting and updating information relating to patient safety incidents, complaints and near misses.
Promotes patient safety during the review of incident and complaint data, aiming to enhance patient outcomes and the effectiveness of care.
Analyzes complex information from claims, incident, and complaint investigations to formulate suitable action plans that foster positive change Supports the collection, analysis and presentation of quantitative and qualitative risk management data (Incidents, complaints, claims) to measure the impact of change and monitor ongoing improvement efforts.
Participates in proactive risk reduction activities using such tools as Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis.
Participates in educational presentations that facilitate the understanding and implementation of patient safety and risk management practices
Ensures the safekeeping of investigation reports and associated documentation related to sentinel events.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare-related field or equivalent professional qualification (current license preferred).
Master’s Degree in risk management or related healthcare field preferred
Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred
Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of recent experience in Risk Management and Patient Safety in a related hospital environment
Knowledge of managing clinical risk within a healthcare setting
Knowledge of principles, methods, procedures, and current trends in health information data management
Knowledge of accreditation programs and surveys
Knowledge of developing standards, policies, and procedures
Skills in managing large, complex projects and initiatives
Skills in developing innovative and creative solutions to achieve organisational objectives within a clinical improvement setting
Ability to solve problems, evaluate, plan, and direct process improvement projects for all clinical departments
Ability to influence at a strategic level and engage with clinicians
