Job Description

The Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Outpatient Department Registered Nurse (OPD RN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to patients attending the outpatient OB/GYN clinic. The role involves recording patient histories, performing diagnostic tests, administering prescribed medications, and developing individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The OPD RN also assists physicians during examinations and procedures, while operating and monitoring medical equipment as required to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers a high standard of evidence-based care to patients at KCH.
  • Demonstrable experience as a registered nurse working with low and high-risk women with obstetric and gynecological issues, in an acute setting.
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in Obstetrics and Gynaecology nursing.
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the needs of patients on an ongoing basis.
  • To ensure that all patients and their relatives are updated regularly with accurate information, presented in a sensitive way and one that they understand.
  • To uphold high standards of care in all departments of KCH.
  • To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • To actively support the implementation of Hospital nursing/local strategy and uphold the ethos of the Hospital.
  • Work flexibly across the organization as required to maintain safe staffing levels or as identified as a personal development need in the appraisal process.
  • Take responsibility for communicating clearly and accurately in both verbal and written information using the Situation Background Assessment Recommendation (SBAR) process.
  • Complete documentation accurately and on time according to hospital and Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) standards, and maintain confidentiality of patient, staff and organizational information.
  • Follow safe medication practices, report medication errors or near misses, and comply with high-alert medication protocols, Look-Alike/Sound-Alike (LASA) precautions and correct medication-storage requirements.
  • Perform any additional duties reasonably assigned by the organization or line manager, even if not explicitly listed in this job description, to meet operational needs and support specific objectives of your department and organization.

Qualifications

  • UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) And Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
  • Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.
