Description
Job Description
The General Nutritionist is responsible for assessing, planning, and monitoring the nutritional needs of patients. The role provides dietary counseling, develops nutrition care plans, and collaborates with clinical teams to optimize health outcomes and promote wellness.
Conduct nutritional assessments, develop individualized diet plans, provide counseling to patients and families, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with dietary protocols and regulatory standards. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
- JOB REQUIREMENTS
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Educations and Certificates:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Food Science.
- Professional license or registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of clinical or community nutrition experience.
- Experience in hospital, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings is preferred.
- SKILLS AND PORFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and dietary management.
- Proficiency in patient assessment, counseling, and care planning.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
- Familiarity with clinical documentation and reporting.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of nutrition software or diet management tools is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in written, read and spoken Arabic and English languages
- ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (But not limited to)
- GENERAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Nutritional Assessment: Evaluate patients’ nutritional needs, medical history, and lifestyle.
Diet Planning: Develop individualized nutrition plans for patients based on health requirements.
Counseling: Educate patients and families on proper nutrition and lifestyle modifications.
Monitoring: Track patient progress and adjust nutrition plans as needed.
Collaboration: Work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to support patient care.
Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and report outcomes.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct nutritional assessments for patients using clinical, biochemical, and dietary information.
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
- Provide dietary counseling and education to patients and their families.
- Monitor and document patient progress and adjust plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with medical teams to ensure dietary needs align with clinical care.
- Participate in nutrition-focused patient rounds and care planning sessions.
- Maintain accurate and complete nutrition records in compliance with regulations.
- Provide guidance on menu planning and dietary modifications as required.
- Stay updated with latest research and evidence-based practices in nutrition.
- Promote health and wellness initiatives within the facility.
