Description
Job Description
The Incumbent is an Oncological Surgeon who provides services to patients of any age group, including diagnosis, pre- and post-operative care of all major and minor operative cases and procedures in the field of oncological surgery and general surgery.
Responsibilities
- Performs all functions and duties of an oncological surgeon and general surgeon provides expert medical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients, including pre- and post-operative cases and such surgical procedures as are within incumbent’s competence.
- Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and other specialists if and when required.
- Assumes after-hours responsibilities for the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
- Orders diagnostic laboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy.
- Determines the eligibility of patients for admission.
- Adheres to the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals.
- Consults with anesthesiologist on the choice of anesthesia to be used.
- Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences and rounds.
- Participates in the Quality Assurance activities of the Service (morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review activities etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the department.

Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.
- Post-graduation and Super specialization in surgical oncology from a recognized medical university.
- At least Five (5) years of practice limited to oncological surgery since certification.
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
- Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Surgical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
- Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice general surgery and Oncology Dubai, UAE.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
