This role plays a crucial role in coordinating and organizing surgical procedures within the operation theater. The primary responsibility is to efficiently plan and coordinate the Operating Theater (OT) bookings for all surgical and emergency procedures in line with the asset’s policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring optimal workflow and resource allocation The Scheduler, Operating Theater is also responsible for providing non-clinical administrative support to the relevant clinical teams as and when required to meet the patient’s and department needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate daily, weekly, and long‑term operating theater schedules to ensure optimal utilization of theater capacity.
  • Schedule elective and emergency surgical cases in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and clinical teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates of surgical bookings, case details, and resource requirements in the hospital scheduling system.
  • Communicate schedule changes, cancellations, and conflicts promptly to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor operating theater workflows and proactively address scheduling conflicts or capacity constraints.
  • Support smooth patient flow and adherence to clinical priorities, safety standards, and organizational policies.
  • Contribute to operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives within the Operating Theater.

Qualifications

  • Vocational / Technical Education.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience such as customer service, call center or related fields.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness.
  • Knowledge of nursing trends and current Operating Theatre practices.
  • Excellent administration and coordination skills and Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and relay messages in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
