The Specialist Physician – Pediatrics is responsible for delivering comprehensive, high-quality, and patient-centered medical care to pediatric patients admitted to the Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care Facility. The role involves the assessment, diagnosis, and management of chronic, complex, and rehabilitation-related pediatric conditions, with a strong focus on promoting functional recovery, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring continuity of care across the multidisciplinary team. All clinical practices must be delivered in full compliance with Saudi health regulations, organizational policies and procedures, and aligned with international clinical standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strong clinical leadership to the pediatric team, ensuring consistent
adherence to evidence-based best practices, approved clinical guidelines,
and patient safety standards.
• Contribute to the development, review, and effective implementation of
pediatric clinical policies, protocols, and care pathways, aligned with
rehabilitation and long-term care service needs.
• Ensure that all clinical practices are delivered in full compliance with
national and international clinical standards, accreditation requirements,
and organizational policies and procedures.
• Support effective service management through the development and
oversight of clinical rosters, on-call coverage arrangements, service
capacity planning, and continuous monitoring of Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs) to drive quality and operational performance.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure
coordinated care planning, timely clinical decision-making, and appropriate
discharge or transition planning.
• Ensure proper coordination of referrals, consultations, and external
medical appointments, maintaining continuity of care and minimizing
delays in patient management.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by contributing to clinical
audits, incident reviews, risk assessments, and corrective action plans as
required.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of quality improvement
initiatives and participate in performance improvement activities related to
pediatric inpatient services.
• Provide clinical input into the management of patient complaints, family
concerns, and service feedback, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate
documentation.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration with nursing,
rehabilitation, allied health teams, and administrative departments to
maintain safe and efficient service delivery.
• Participate in staff orientation, supervision, training, and competency
assessment for junior physicians and relevant clinical team members.
• Contribute to the optimization of operational processes by supporting
standardization of documentation, reporting, and workflow efficiency
within the pediatric service
• Provide specialized pediatric medical care to children requiring
rehabilitation services, chronic disease management, and long-term care,
ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
• Conduct comprehensive initial, ongoing, and periodic medical assessments
in accordance with CBAHI patient assessment standards and facility
policies.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment and
care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team
(e.g., nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy,
dietetics, and psychology).
• Monitor patient clinical and functional progress, adjust treatment plans as
required, and accurately document outcomes and clinical decisions in the
medical record.
• Manage acute pediatric medical issues within the facility and coordinate
timely referrals and consultations with relevant subspecialties when
clinically indicated.
• Ensure appropriate management of pediatric-specific needs including pain
control, nutritional status, growth monitoring, and developmental
surveillance, with proactive interventions when required.
• Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures, investigations, and test
results relevant to pediatric practice, supporting accurate diagnosis and
effective care delivery.
• Provide safe and effective pediatric care across applicable settings including
inpatient, outpatient, and emergency situations, based on service scope
and operational requirements.
• Respond promptly to pediatric medical emergencies and provide timely,
appropriate clinical interventions in line with emergency protocols.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical documentation in
compliance with legal, institutional, and accreditation requirements.
• Adhere at all times to infection prevention and control measures, patient
safety practices, and clinical governance standards.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, allied health professionals, and
other stakeholders to ensure coordinated, integrated, and comprehensive
pediatric patient care.
Qualification:
• Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent medical qualification from a recognized and accredited medical school.
• A recognized postgraduate specialization in Pediatrics, such as the Saudi Board in Pediatrics, the Arab Board in Pediatrics, the Membership of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, or an equivalent qualification.
Experience :
• Minimum of two to three years of post-specialization clinical
experience in Pediatrics.
• Previous experience in pediatric rehabilitation, long-term care,
chronic disease management, or complex pediatric care is
highly preferred
