Job Description

To provide services to patients for whom he / she is responsible to the highest attainable standard of care within the resources of Dallah Hospital by performing radiological procedures at a technical level without supervision. Uses independent judgment and initiative to obtain the radiological studies for the prescribed examinations. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as scheduled by the supervisory staff.

Organizational Accountabilities:

  • Ensure work is performed based on approved policies, processes, procedures, and instructions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering leading practices, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  • Ensure day-to-day activities are properly performed in line with policies and procedures.
  • Follow-up on escalated cases/issues of subordinates to ensure they are closed efficiently and in a timely manner.

Functional Accountabilities:

  • Selects and operates appropriate equipment for each exam.
  • Positions patients according to examinations requested.
  • Selects appropriate technical factors for each patient.
  • Produces images of acceptable film quality.
  • Uses suitable working practices to ensure that all radiation protection and safety regulations are complied with
  • Maintains correct attitude of professional conduct and conforms to all normal ethical relationships.
  • Ensures examination rooms are always in a state of cleanliness and readiness.
  • Reports all equipment malfunctions to the Chief Technician or designee.
  • Assists in the emergency treatment of patients.
  • Observes all infection control standards laid down in policy documents, particularly in respect to sterile procedures.
  • Administer (under the direction and supervision of the radiologist) oral, rectal, and parenteral contrast media, including intravenous contrast media.
  • Implements and coordinates policies and procedures to achieve the hospital’s goals and objectives in pursuit of Standards of Care, Quality / Performance Improvement.
  • Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.
  • Ultrasound:

o Responsible for performing ultrasound procedures at technical level in closed coordination with the radiologists.

o Assist the Radiologist during ultrasound examination.

o Clean the ultrasound gel from the patient body after examination and portable X ray machine.

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential: Minimum of two years post graduate/diploma practice in an acute care facility.

Desirable: Practical experience in MRI/CT/Ultrasound/Angio for at least one year in an acute care facility

Education and Certifications:

Associate Degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institute/college.
