Job Description

The Registered Nurse – Endoscopy provides safe, high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. This role supports patient assessment, preparation, intra- and post-procedure monitoring, infection prevention, documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure an efficient and patient-centered endoscopy service.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive pre-procedure assessments, including history, allergies, medications, consent verification, and readiness checks.
  • Prepare patients and endoscopy rooms according to clinical protocols and DHA/HAAD-aligned standards.
  • Assist gastroenterologists and the endoscopy team during procedures, including patient positioning, monitoring, and specimen handling (as applicable).
  • Monitor and document vital signs, sedation recovery status, pain, and complications during and after procedures.
  • Provide post-procedure care, discharge education, and follow-up instructions to patients and families.
  • Maintain strict infection prevention and control practices, including safe handling of instruments and adherence to reprocessing workflows in coordination with CSSD.
  • Ensure accurate nursing documentation in the hospital system, including procedure checklists, assessments, and incident reporting.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audits, competency validation, and continuing education related to endoscopy nursing.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia (if applicable), and allied health teams to ensure smooth patient flow and timely care.
Requirements

Qualifications & requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in endoscopic procedures (endoscopy unit experience required).
  • DHA License or DHA Eligibility is mandatory.
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS is an advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of patient safety, sedation recovery monitoring, and endoscopy-related complications.
  • Good communication skills, teamwork, and professionalism.
