Roles and Responsibilities

Summary

Independently evaluates and treats patients’ skills in the area of speech, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing. Participates in research related to speech language pathology.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Provides quality habilitative/rehabilitative care for patients receiving speech language pathology services, including but not limited to evaluation, diagnosis, treatment plan, treatment implementation and discharge planning.

2. Demonstrates knowledge of all departmental procedure manuals (i.e., diagnostic tests and equipment).

3. Demonstrates familiarization with internal and hospital policies and procedures.

4. Maintains patients’ records as required by policies and administrative regulations.

5. Determines the need for referral to other specialists in other areas and carry out referral.

6. Provides education for patient and care giver as required.

7. Provides in-service to other departments and services.

8. Participates in research in specialty area(s).

9. Supervises the speech language evaluation and treatment services provided by intern-students and SCDPs engaged in completion of clinical practicum requirements.

10. Confers with intern-students and SCDP(s) to provide feedback to support clinical work and to develop clinical skills.

11. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

12. Participates in self and others education, training, and development, as applicable.

13. Comply with the section policies, procedures, and protocols. Follow the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, SFDA, and other accreditation agencies’ standards.

14. Comply with Radiation safety rules and regulation of the Hospital in accordance with KACST and K.A. CARE and other national or international regulatory bodies.

15. Apply Al-ARA principal Role within the section practice for all procedures.

16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.

Experience Required: Four (4) years of experience in Speech-Language Pathology in a specialized area with a master’s degree, or completion of Saudi Career Development Program (SCDP) for Saudi candidates required.

Other Requirements/ Certifications:

• Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.

• Eligibility for international certifications, i.e., ASHA (USA), BSA (UK), CASALPA (Canada), and/or IALP, preferred.

• Completion of Saudi Career Development Program (SCDP) for Saudi candidates is required.
